This is a new paragraph.  Note the automatic space created above it.   Whenever you hit the ‘enter’ key, a new paragraph is made.
By contrast, this is a ‘new line’ (instead of a new ‘paragraph’).  It is made by pressing together the ‘shift’+’enter’ keys (which creates the HTML <br> tag code).

Sometimes it’s useful to insert a graphic horizontal line to separate blocks of text.   In web design, this is called a ‘Horizontal Rule’.  We can set up different styles for how this line will appear:
